What a business website really costs in Oman

If you run a business in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or anywhere else in Oman and you have asked around about a website, you have probably heard wildly different numbers — a few dozen rials from a student, a few thousand from an agency. Both can be right, because "a website" can mean very different things. What matters is not the sticker price on day one; it is what the site costs you to own over the years it is actually working for you.

Here is an honest breakdown for the Omani market, in rials, so you can judge any quote you are handed with clear eyes.

The upfront build, in rials

For a small business site of up to five pages, built properly and in both Arabic and English, a freelance or agency build in Oman typically falls somewhere in the low hundreds to a couple of thousand rials. A larger site — more pages, a catalogue, booking, multiple branches — climbs from there, and a heavily custom project for an established company can reach several thousand.

These are planning ranges, not a fixed price list; real quotes vary by scope, designer and how much of the content you provide. But they give you the right shape: a one-off build in Oman is usually a three- or four-figure rial number, and bilingual work tends to sit at the higher end because it is effectively two versions of the site done well.

The part the quote leaves out

A website is not a one-time purchase, and this is where Omani business owners most often get caught. After the build you still pay for hosting, you renew your domain every year, you keep an SSL certificate so browsers trust the site, and — the big one — you pay for maintenance. Prices change, Ramadan hours shift, a phone number updates, a link breaks, the design starts to look dated.

On a one-off build, every one of those small jobs becomes a new email, a new quote, and a wait — or an hourly bill. Add two or three years of hosting and upkeep to the upfront figure and the true cost of ownership is often well above the number on the original quote.

Where a monthly plan changes the maths

There is another way to pay that suits a lot of Omani SMEs: a fixed monthly fee that covers everything — design, hosting, the domain, SSL and ongoing updates — with nothing upfront. ScrollJuice works this way, starting at OMR 20 per month (plus 5% VAT), with your Arabic + English site built for you and a free preview before you pay anything.

Over three years that predictable monthly number often lands in the same range as — or below — a one-off build once you add its hosting and upkeep, and your site keeps getting updated instead of quietly ageing. It will not suit everyone; a large, highly custom project may still want a dedicated agency. But for the typical Omani business that just needs a professional site and someone to keep it current, it removes the upfront risk and the surprise bills.
