Website design cost in the UAE: four routes, compared
In the UAE you have more ways to get a website built than almost anywhere in the region — and the price range is enormous. The same "business website" can cost a few hundred dirhams or tens of thousands, depending on which route you take and how you count the years. Here are the four realistic paths for a Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah business, and what each really costs once the running expenses are in.
The agency route
A UAE design agency gives you a custom, polished result and a team behind it — and it is the most expensive option upfront. For a proper bilingual small-business site, agency builds commonly run from several thousand into the tens of thousands of dirhams, and you then carry hosting and maintenance on top, year after year. It is the right call when you need something genuinely bespoke and have the budget to match.
The freelancer and DIY routes
A skilled freelancer sits in the middle: a lower upfront cost, often a few thousand dirhams, in exchange for depending on one person for updates and support down the line. A DIY website builder is the cheapest sticker price — a monthly subscription for the tool — but you become the designer, the copywriter, the translator and the maintenance team, and doing Arabic and English properly on these platforms is harder than it looks.
Both can work well. The freelancer route needs you to trust and stay in touch with one individual; the DIY route needs you to have the time and patience to build and maintain it yourself.
The managed subscription route
The fourth route is a fixed monthly fee that bundles everything — design, hosting, domain, SSL and ongoing updates — with nothing upfront. ScrollJuice works this way in the UAE from AED 199 per month (plus VAT), building your Arabic + English site for you and showing a free preview before you pay. Because hosting and updates are included, the three-year total is predictable and usually competitive with a one-off build once its upkeep is counted.
The honest trade-off: a subscription is not a one-time payment, and a very custom project may still be better served by an agency. But for a typical UAE SME, it removes the upfront cost, the maintenance headaches and the surprise bills.
See the three-year figure for your case
The cheapest route on day one is rarely the cheapest over three years. Put your details into the GCC website cost calculator, choose the UAE, and compare a custom build against the monthly plan in dirhams — running costs included — then check the plans for your exact price.
